Just Do Brick

Just Do Brick explores sawdust's thermal insulation properties to design self-shading wall systems that reduce heat transmission. The project developed custom brick forms through computational design, testing six geometric patterns to identify configurations optimizing both structural stability and solar shading performance. Material testing of three sawdust-latex glue ratios determined optimal U-values (thermal conductivity), with Pattern 6 emerging as the best balance of stability and shading effectiveness for western sun exposure.
