EcoGrain

Ecograin transforms industrial wood waste into a high-performance composite material, achieving thermal conductivity of 0.0693 W/m·K—superior to solid hardwood insulation. The material combines sawdust and wood shavings with natural tapioca starch adhesive (optimized ratio: 10ml per 1000ml material) to create a biodegradable alternative to synthetic composites. Testing revealed that glycerin-based formulations reduce material costs by 40% compared to wood rubber alternatives while achieving faster curing times (2 days vs. 3 days). The resulting material can be shaped, sanded smooth, and demonstrates effective sound absorption due to its porous structure. Potential applications include acoustic wall panels, furniture components, and interior finishing materials where biodegradability and thermal performance are valued.
